Dunedin is now the new premium location in which to immerse yourself in French culture and sharpen up your language skills. Arrive in Ōtepoti/Dunedin airport in the morning. (Recommended direct flights to Dunedin: from Wellington, departing at 8:35am, arriving at 10:25am. From Auckland, departing at 7:45am, arriving 9:40am)
You will be welcomed by your French-speaking guide, who will pick you up at the airport. Before arriving in the city, we stop at Tunnel Beach and walk to the beach, which features a very beautiful viewpoint of this wind and wave beaten coast.
Lunch (included) is on the Esplanade which runs along the magnificent St Clair beach.
In the early afternoon, we start with a visit of the city (the famous railway station, the botanical garden, Baldwin street, which is the steepest street in the world).
We spend the night at the Distinction Hotel in the centre of Dunedin.
Dinner at the hotel (included).
Discovery day of the Otago Peninsula with your guide, by bus, walking, and on a boat!
We take a cruise on the Otago Harbour and then visit Quarantine Island, with the option of being part of the rehabilitation of the island’s flora. A picnic lunch on the island is included.
We go back to Dunedin and have a little free time, then an apéritif with the new Dunedin No.8 gin tasting (in French).
Dinner at your own expense.
Day trip to Oamaru, a charming Victorian style town. Your guide will take you to the Victorian period district with its small boutiques, where interesting discoveries await you.
On our way back to Dunedin, we will stop at Moeraki Beach to see the large boulders in the sand which look like a group of giant turtles.
Lunch is at the small fishing town of Moeraki, at Fleurs, a restaurant renowned for its local produce, such as fish, seafood, and wines.
Return to Dunedin through the small towns of Waitati and Port Chalmers.
Dinner at your own expense.
The group is split into two for the day.
In the morning, there will be a French cooking class with a French chef for one group, while the other group will visit the Otago Museum and walk through the University of Otago campus. The groups will reverse activities for the afternoon.

There will be a little free time at the end of this day, before dining at Emerson’s Brewery (included).
This morning, we will visit the historic Olveston House.
Then, we will depart for the Otago Peninsula and Larnach Castle, the only castle in New Zealand! A guided tour of the castle is followed by a walk in the splendid garden. Lunch onsite is included.
In the afternoon, we will visit Penguin Place, a private conservation reserve to view the rare yellow-eyed penguins, which are only found in New Zealand.
Return to the hotel at the end of the day. Dinner at your own expense.
We visit the renowned Otago Farmers’ market in the morning, then we take a walk through the city to discover Dunedin’s Street Art.
Lunch at your own expense and some free time. Why not visiting Toitu Otago Settlers Museum, the Chinese Garden or the Dunedin Art Gallery at your own pace? They are all within 5mn from your hotel.
In the middle of the afternoon, we invite you to a private showing of a French film, with subtitles. Then we will have dinner (included) at the new restaurant “Titi” at St Clair, with a “Trust the chef” menu, a progression of contemporary, inventive dishes inspired by fresh, local and in season produce. An excellent way to end this stay!
Say “au revoir” to Dunedin!
